Think Fast. Build Smart. Code Your Vibe — A 5-Hour Rapid Product Development Challenge.
What is VIBE-A-THON ’26?
Welcome to TENET ’26 VIBE-A-THON, an intensive, on-site 5-hour build sprint where developers and problem-solvers turn unexpected, real-world civic, business, and campus crises into functional digital solutions.
This isn't about slide decks or pretty, non-functional user interfaces. VIBE-A-THON is a high-octane coding sprint that evaluates your ability to think deeply, architect robust logic under intense time pressure, and ship working prototypes that can handle live stress-testing on-spot.
You’ll move through the complete development cycle—from receiving the surprise problem statement to rapid ideation, coding, testing, and a live demonstration to the judges—all in one continuous 5-hour session.
🛠️ The Challenge Format & Domains
Participants can expect hard, multi-stakeholder problem statements addressing everyday challenges.
The problem statements are designed to defeat generic, copy-paste AI solutions. To win, your team must understand the human and operational edge cases, design consistent data workflows, and make your platform actually work.
🛡️ Critical Rules & Fair Play Mandates
- ⏱️ True On-The-Spot Development: You are not permitted to pre-prepare or use existing codebase templates. Everything must be built from scratch during the sprint.
- 🌱 Fresh GitHub/GitLab Repositories Only: Every team must initialize a completely NEW, public repository only after the official 10:00 AM start flag. Reusing, branching, or continuing prior projects is strictly prohibited.
- 🔄 Continuous Commit Verification: Teams must push regular, incremental updates to their GitHub repository throughout the 5-hour window. A single bulk upload at the end will be penalized or disqualify your team. We are actively tracking repository git history.
- 🔴 Strict AI Extension & Assistants Policy: Participants are NOT permitted to use external AI assistants, chat portals, or extensions (such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, v0, etc.). You must exclusively rely on the official OmniRush Platform provided on D-day.
- 🧪 Live Stress-Testing: During evaluation, judges won't look at PowerPoint slides. They will act as unpredictable users, triggering simultaneous edge cases and system overloads on your running code to see how your architecture handles the test.
