Overview
Threadback is a project continuity tool for developers. You build a project, step away for a month, and come back with no idea what you built, what's half-finished, or what to do next. Threadback fixes that.
Point it at any JavaScript/TypeScript repository and it:
- Scans the code and git history (it records the exact commit it analyzed)
- Builds a feature ledger with evidence: routes, APIs, models, auth, payments, uploads, each marked as implemented, incomplete, planned, or unknown, with the files and TODOs that support the status
- Keeps implementation and verification separate: a feature is never marked "verified" without a test result, because a file existing doesn't prove it works
- Flags stale evidence when later commits change a feature's files
- Records session check-ins: what you finished, decisions and why, blockers, unfinished work, and your next step
- Generates a restart brief with three prioritized next actions, each with a reason and linked evidence, plus a STATUS.md and an HTML dashboard
Principles: it's read-only on your code, runs locally with no API keys, has zero dependencies, and uses deterministic rules you can inspect instead of guesses. It's a Node.js CLI covered by an automated test suite.
Next: sandboxed test execution to earn "verified" status, incremental re-scans, GitHub issue sync, a VS Code extension, Python and Java support, and optional AI-written summaries.
