Pune Metro Hub — Project Description

Pune Metro Hub is a mobile-first, multilingual platform that transforms the Pune Metro commuting experience by connecting passengers with shops, cafés, restaurants, and local businesses at or near metro stations. It enables commuters to discover products, explore menus, compare prices, access offers, and place orders while travelling, reducing waiting time and making everyday purchases more convenient.

The platform's key innovation is station-based ordering with three flexible fulfilment options:

• Takeaway: Passengers order in advance and collect their food or products directly from the selected shop.
• Dine-in: Customers order from a participating restaurant and dine at the establishment.
• Metro Delivery: Passengers place orders while travelling and select an upcoming metro station as their delivery point. Shop owners can view the order's selected station and estimated arrival or handover time, prepare the order accordingly, and coordinate parcel handover at the designated station or an agreed collection point, subject to station access and applicable permissions.

An integrated AI assistant, MetroMate, helps users discover suitable products and meals based on their budget, dietary preferences, selected or upcoming station, and estimated preparation time. It connects recommendations to relevant shops, products, prices, and station locations, helping passengers make informed choices without extensive searching.

For shop owners, the platform provides a dedicated dashboard to manage products, menus, prices, offers, incoming orders, preparation progress, and fulfilment status. For metro delivery, it helps owners coordinate orders using the passenger's selected handover station and declared journey details, with clear order-status updates for both parties.

Built using React, TypeScript, and Vite for the frontend, Python Flask for the backend, and MongoDB for data storage, Pune Metro Hub is designed to support English, Hindi, and Marathi, with AI-powered conversational assistance and potential voice interaction.

Key innovation: Pune Metro Hub connects a passenger's journey with a shop's preparation time, enabling passengers to order during their commute and collect their parcels at a convenient upcoming stop.

Scope and implementation considerations: The current prototype uses sample catalogue data where real-world information has not been verified. Actual passenger location tracking, live train-position integration, guaranteed delivery timing, onboard parcel handover, and station-based delivery permissions must be validated or implemented before real-world deployment. Metro delivery would operate only at designated, permitted handover points, with passenger consent and appropriate coordination.
