TAGLINE (202 / 250) Pune Metro beats an auto for only 30% of the 61 lakh people living near it. MetroMitra finds where the last mile fails, tests ₹10 feeder buses to fix it, and gives riders an honest door-to-door planner.

DESCRIPTION What we built MetroMitra is a free, bilingual (English / मराठी) web app that tackles Pune Metro's real problem: the first and last mile. If your home or office is 3–5 km from a station, the auto to and from it costs more time and money than the metro saves, so people take an auto all the way.

Who it's for • The city (Maha-Metro, PMC, PMPML): to see exactly where the metro fails and what would fix it. • Riders: to plan trips honestly and report problems at stations.

What it does • Gap Map: splits Pune into ~0.9 km squares and, for each one, plans real door-to-door trips to 12 major job, college and travel hubs, comparing the metro with an auto. Weighted by WorldPop 2020 population, it finds the metro beats an auto for only 30% of the 61 lakh residents near it (37% by area: the gaps are where people live). • Feeder simulator: tests a ₹10 feeder e-bus at every station and ranks them by residents served. Ramwadi alone helps 1.1 lakh people; five feeders raise the share from 30% to 44%. Includes the planned Line 3 scenario (Hinjewadi: 47% → 81%) and a printable city report. • Trip planner: door to door with clock times, the right line and direction, the District Court interchange, student and card concessions, and an honest verdict that says "take an auto" when the metro doesn't pay off. • Accessible mode with step-free routing, rider reports for crowds and broken lifts, a shareable savings card, an offline "Ask MetroMitra" assistant, QR codes for any view, and offline use as an installable app. • Ride the story: a scroll-driven 2-minute pitch where a metro train runs from PCMC to Swargate.

Real data Maha-Metro's official fare chart and timetable, the Pune RTA auto tariff, a road model calibrated on trips we collected, and WorldPop population. Estimates (Line 3 timing, road costs, emissions, the feeder model) are clearly labelled.

Built with Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no build step, 88 automated tests, hosted on GitHub Pages. Line 3, the savings card, accessible mode, station reports and the assistant were built with OpenAI Codex.
