Loops House vs HackerEarth

Built for how AI agents actually build. Hackathons are just where that's easiest to prove.
This is the second post in our hackathon-platform comparison series (the first covered Devpost). HackerEarth is a different kind of comparison. Most teams don't know it as a hackathon tool first, they know it as a technical hiring platform that also happens to run hackathons. That's the more useful thing to compare against, because enterprise is the direction we're headed too, not just running better hackathon weekends.
Quick answer: HackerEarth Sprint is innovation-management software built on top of an established enterprise technical-assessment company, strong for crowdsourcing ideas at scale with human judging panels and a large developer network to draw from. Loops House started with hackathons because a live event is the fastest way to prove a model works in public. The three pieces underneath it (an IDE-native Skill and Co-pilot, and an AI Judge that reads evidence instead of a pitch) aren't hackathon-specific by design, even though hackathons are the only place they run today.
What is HackerEarth Sprint?
HackerEarth started in 2012 as MyCareerStack, a student project out of IIT Roorkee, before pivoting the following year into automated coding assessments for technical hiring, the business it's still best known for today. Hackathons came later: HackerEarth Sprint launched in 2015 as the company's dedicated product for it, marketed as "innovation management software" for crowdsourcing ideas from internal teams or external developer audiences. It draws on HackerEarth's own developer network, which the company puts at 10M+ registered members. Sprint shares infrastructure with the hiring side of the business, including FaceCode, HackerEarth's live video interview tool, which shows up again in Sprint's judging flow. HackerEarth's broader customer base has reportedly included enterprises like Amazon, PayPal, Walmart Labs, and Intel.
What Loops House is actually built for
Loops House was built for a moment where an AI coding agent, not a blank editor, is doing a large share of the implementation, and that moment isn't unique to hackathon weekends. It's showing up everywhere builders work. Hackathons are where we started, because a live event is the fastest, most public way to prove whether a model like this holds up under real submissions and real judging pressure.
Three pieces make it work: a Skill that installs an event directly into a builder's IDE, a Co-pilot trained on a sponsor's own documentation so guidance stays consistent no matter who's asking, and an AI Judge that scores submissions against the actual code and demo rather than how well the work was pitched. None of those three are tied to a hackathon format by design, even though a hackathon weekend is the only place they're live right now. A dedicated version of this for enterprise use beyond hackathons isn't built yet. The direction is the same three pieces applied to any place an AI agent is producing real, gradeable work for a company, which is precisely the territory HackerEarth's enterprise business already covers from the hiring side. What that looks like as an actual packaged offering is still being worked out.
What Loops House does differently, today
A sponsor mentor that doesn't clock out. Nearly every builder at a hackathon is already leaning on an AI agent to get unstuck. The trouble is a generic agent's answer changes depending on how you phrase the question, and it has no visibility into what a specific sponsor's challenge is actually asking for. Loops House's Co-pilot is trained on the sponsor's own docs, so the sponsor defines the correct answer once and every builder gets it, at 2pm or 2am. HackerEarth Sprint's version of support is a human one: organizers recruit subject-matter experts to staff the event and hand out starter kits, which works when help is scoped to a set window, but it's still a person who has to be logged on when the question comes in.
Bounties and docs that live inside the editor, not behind a login. Running npx loopshouse add your-event-slug pulls the entire event, rules, bounties, sponsor docs, submission flow, straight into Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or VS Code. HackerEarth Sprint runs the way most of HackerEarth's products run, through a browser. Registration, the challenge brief, the submission form, and the judge dashboard all live on a web portal, the same shape as HackerEarth's assessment and interview tools. That's a sensible choice for a platform whose core business is proctored coding tests, but it means builders still tab out of their IDE to read the rules and tab back in to write the code. There's no equivalent today, on HackerEarth or otherwise, to installing an event directly into an AI coding agent.
Judging that assumes there's a codebase worth reading. HackerEarth Sprint's rubric, novelty, feasibility, simplicity, design, business value, is built for evaluating ideas at any stage of maturity, which fits a tool designed to crowdsource proposals across a whole company, not only finished, working software. A scoring panel carries that process, with a live FaceCode interview round for finalists. Loops House's AI Judge starts from a different assumption: that a real repo exists to evaluate. It reads the code, the pitch, and the demo together, splitting scoring into what's checkable directly against the repo (technical execution, whether the build matches the bounty) and what still needs human judgment (creativity, originality), with AI keeping that second half consistent across a large field.
Still early, but the results are showing up
Loops House hasn't been around as long as HackerEarth, so the fair comparison isn't scale, it's whether the model works in a live event. At Codex Community Hackathon Pune, 1,500+ builders registered, 300+ were selected, and 85 projects were scored live on a public board. At NextGen BioAgents during NY Tech Week, 23 projects shipped in a single day, each builder working from AI skills built for that specific sponsor's stack.
Shay Beheshti, who co-directs growth for Nucleate NY, said Loops House "gave participants one place to ideate, access resources, and submit projects."
Kenneth Umoekp said the platform "made me feel like I belonged on day one," as a first-time hacker.

Pick HackerEarth if you're running an enterprise innovation program that needs to crowdsource ideas, not necessarily working code, from a large internal or external pool, and you want a platform with a decade-plus track record and a sizeable existing developer network to draw from.
